Focus Forward: 5 Tips to Help You Reassess & Reinvest in Yourself

Updated: Apr 4

If you are anything like me, then the hustle of the holidays and the winter woes might have you a bit burned out. The bright side is spring has sprung, and now is the time to reset.

So here are 5 tips to help you reassess and reinvest in yourself.

Tip #1 - Do some Goal-Digging

Take time to reflect on what you want to accomplish this year. Make your goals specific and measurable. Set achievable and realistic goals. Focus on both short-term and long-term goals and a timeframe for achieving them. Hold yourself accountable by sharing your goals with others.

Sometimes, goal-setting can be overwhelming. So, break down larger goals into smaller, manageable steps. It's essential to stay positive and maintain a growth mindset.

Tip #2 - View the Vision

Visualize yourself achieving your goals to stay motivated! Write down your goals and track your progress. Whether it’s creating a vision board or writing your goals down on a sticky note, you should leave your goals in a place where you can see them often (mirror, wall calendar, fridge). If you see it, you can achieve it.

"Write the vision and make it plain." – Habakkuk 2:2 KJV

Tip #3 - Show Yourself-Love

Loving yourself is essential to maintaining a healthy mindset and overall well-being. If you don’t love yourself, how will others? So, speak positivity over yourself. I sometimes get distracted by self-doubt. The stinking thinking impacts my mood and actions. Sometimes, the negative things we tell ourselves can be self-sabotaging. Therefore, I practice what I call "Queendom Thinking." Here are a few of the mantras and quotes I recall when I want to change the negative narrative in my mind.

"Unto Him who is able to do Exceedingly abundantly above all we can ask or think." – Ephesians 3:20 NKJV
"God is within her, she will not fail." – Psalm 46:5 NKJV
"I am fearfully wonderfully made." -Psalm 139:14 NIV
"You can't miss, when you secure the bag, sis" -Dr. Tamika

Tip #4 - Check Your Surroundings

Surround yourself with people who inspire you and can offer guidance and support. For you, this may be a pruning season-a time to let go of those who are not adding value to your life. You know, those "Negative Nancy" that bring you down instead of lifting you up.

Seek mentors who can provide valuable insights and advice. This is your harvest season- be sure to pour into others. Plant those seeds of positivity. We all need encouragement and a circle that cheers for us on the sidelines of our journey.

Tip #5 - Focus Forward

Make time for activities that you enjoy and that help you relax and recharge. Focus on the things that bring you joy and peace. I find joy and peace in meditation, journaling, prayer, and my family. It’s essential for your overall health and well-being to do what you love. I love coaching and empowering others to reach their fullest potential. So, I quit my six-figure job to do what I love-helping others to achieve their dreams. Remember, life is too short not to live it on your own terms!
